Terms & Conditions
These Terms govern your use of Home Manual (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to them. Please read them together with how we handle your data (see Your data & privacy below).
1. The Service
Home Manual helps you assemble and maintain a living reference for a home — its systems, upkeep, projects, records, and related information — in part by using AI to extract structured facts from documents and photos you provide. The Service is an organizational and informational tool. It is not a professional service and does not provide advice (see Section 6).
2. Accounts
You access the Service through a sign-in link sent to your email. You are responsible for the security of your email account and for activity under your account. You must be at least 18 years old and provide accurate information. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.
3. Your content
“Your Content” means the documents, photos, text, and other materials you add to the Service, and the home records generated from them. You retain all rights to Your Content. You grant us a limited license to host, process, display, and back up Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you — including transmitting it to the third-party providers described in Section 8 for storage and AI processing. You are responsible for having the rights to the content you upload and for what you choose to share.
4. Sharing
The Service lets you generate read-only share links and control, section by section, what a link reveals. Anyone with an enabled link can view what you have chosen to share, without an account. You are responsible for who you send links to; you can disable or regenerate a link at any time. Some information (for example, saved reports, costs, rental details, and your original documents) is not included on share links unless you explicitly opt in.
5. AI-generated content
The Service uses AI to draft content — for example, to extract data from an inspection report or invoice, suggest projects, generate illustrative “after” renders, or produce situation guidance. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated. It is provided as a draft for you to review and confirm. You are responsible for verifying anything important before relying on it. Renders and drafts are illustrative and may not reflect real conditions, dimensions, or code.
6. Not professional advice; no valuations
The Service, including any report, checklist, savings estimate, or guidance it produces, is for general informational and organizational purposes only. It is not legal, insurance, tax, financial, real-estate, engineering, or other professional advice, and it does not provide property valuations or opinions of value. Savings figures are transparent estimates derived from the data you enter, not guarantees. Always consult a licensed professional before making decisions, filing a claim, or entering a transaction.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- upload content you do not have the right to use, or that is unlawful or infringing;
- use the Service to store others’ personal data without a lawful basis;
- attempt to breach security, access other users’ data, or disrupt the Service;
- reverse engineer, scrape, or resell the Service except as permitted by law;
- misrepresent AI-generated output as professional advice or an authoritative valuation.
8. Your data & privacy
We process Your Content to provide the Service. This includes storing it with our hosting and database provider and sending documents and photos you submit to AI providers for extraction and generation. We do not sell Your Content. Uploaded source files are retained privately in your account unless you delete them; you can download or delete your documents and delete your home at any time. Sensitive fields are kept out of shared views by default. A separate Privacy Policy may provide further detail; where it and these Terms differ on data handling, the Privacy Policy controls.
9. Intellectual property
The Service — its software, design, and content we provide — is owned by us and our licensors and is protected by law. These Terms grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service; they do not transfer any of our intellectual property to you.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI output or estimates will be accurate.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or USD $100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your homes and account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service. On termination, your license to use the Service ends; you remain able to export or delete Your Content up to the point of termination where reasonably possible.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Multnomah County, Oregon, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
